The company was established in 2013 and has three directors, two of whom have personal experience and understanding of the challenges faced by visually impaired people. The directors also have considerable horticultural experience. David Price was Head Gardener at the Cliffden Hotel in Teignmouth for over 25 years. Experienced horticulturist Clive Webb worked alongside him for a number of years. Sam Beer, who is totally blind, has a degree in horticulture.

The objectives of Foresight Gardening are three-fold:Walled Garden Concept Design

  • In the long term, to complete restoration of the walled garden to its former glory and renovate the coach house to provide an information centre and an amenity for the community as a whole
  • In the immediate term, to continue to train the visually impaired in horticulture so that they can either pursue gainful employment in that field or merely gain physical fitness, confidence and wellbeing
  • To continue to provide lessons in horticulture to a cohort of pupils of Teignmouth Community School and give them some insight into both the capabilities and achievements of the visually impaired and potential alternative career paths.
